As part of the deal, Honeywell will install Enhanced High Performance Process Manager (EHPM) industrial process controllers at the refinery, which is expected to increase the life of existing control system.
Preem will install EHPM process controllers in the refinery to triple the capacity of existing controllers.
The upgradation of the plant is expected to be complete by the end of 2013.
Preem AB automation manager Lars Andersson said the investment builds on Lysekil’s position as the region’s leading refinery and will deliver real benefits for decades.
"It also means we can maintain and improve on a safe, efficient operation, without the disruption and cost of ripping out and replacing the entire control system," Andersson added.
Preem supplies ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel in Sweden, and holds an annual refining capacity of around 18 million tons.
