Compagnie Thermique De Belle Vue Ltd (CTBV) has awarded a turnkey contract to the US company Duke Engineering Services. The power plant will be built on the Belle Vue Estate.
The $74 million project will burn sugar cane bagasse from Mauritius to generate 70 MWe. Work began earlier this year, with startup scheduled for 2000.
CTBV is a joint venture between Harel Freres Ltd of Mauritius, French company SIDEC and the Sugar Investment Trust of Mauritius.
