Carried out as part of JCP&L’s overall $200m investment in 2013, to boost service reliability and help address increasing electricity demand, the upgrades involved replacement of a transformer, installation of five additional lightning arrestors, and two insulators.
The insulators are expected to help limit the frequency and duration of power outages.
JCP&L Operations vice president Tony Hurley said the circuit upgrades form a significant portion of the work carried out by the company each year to help improve its service reliability.
"As part of this process, we evaluate circuits throughout our 13 county service area and focus on installing the latest and most advanced equipment on our system to help provide our customers the quality service they expect and deserve," Hurley added.
JCP&L is planning to invest over $2.5m on similar projects this year on upgrade of 90 circuits throughout its northern and central New Jersey service area.
