The new plant, which is expected to begin production in late 2016, will have the capacity to produce about 5,000 tons per day (tpd) that is equivalent to around 1.75 million tons per annum (mtpa).
The plant, which will be built in a 514 acre plot that acquired by OCI, will use modern methanol technology, as well as will incorporate best available environmental control technology.
In February 2013, Natgasoline has submitted applications for environmental approvals at both state and federal levels, related to the plant.
OCI CEO Nassef Sawiris said that Natgasoline is well positioned to supply methanol to the domestic market, which is an essential building block for numerous end-use products.
"OCI’s Construction Group will be involved in the construction of the plant, creating job opportunities in Texas and facilitating the completion of the project on schedule," Sawiris added.
