Reuters cited sources familiar with the matter as saying that the company needs funds for the construction of a giant iron ore mine in the Amazon.

The company’s present coal assets includes Belvedere and Eagle Downs projects in Queensland, and Carborough Downs mine.

The company holds 50% stake in Isaac Plains mine in Queensland, and is a major stake holder of the Integra mine in New South Wales.

However, presently both the mines are put on care and maintenance due to fall in coal prices.

The publication reported one of the sources as saying: "The chief executive is Brazil-oriented so they could sell everything. They have minimal exposure (in Australia)."
