Wood waste to generate in Paraná, Brazil

French technology company Areva’s Transmission and Distribution Division has won a €16.6 million contract to build two biomass power plants in Paraná, Brazil. The turn-key contract with CCC Machinery, a subsidiary of Germany’s Münchmeyer Petersen, will see two 12.3 MW biomass plants fuelled with wood residues from the state’s numerous furniture factories.

The two plants will be operational by February and June 2006 and Areva will also connect them to the grid.
