The company will supply onshore substation including high-voltage air-insulated switchgear, gas-insulated switchgear, transformers and substation automation as well as control and protection systems.
To ensure grid stability, the company will install four static compensator units on the onshore substation.
The contract scope also includes supply of medium-voltage switchgear, power transformers and protection and control systems for the offshore platform.
ABB power systems division president Claudio Facchin said: "These substations will help integrate wind energy and facilitate the reliable and efficient transmission of clean power."
The company will also extend the National Grid’s nearby substation at Bolney by integrating it with two new switchgear bays. This substation receives the renewable power generated from the wind farm.
Being jointly developed by E.on and the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB), the wind farm will feature up to 175 turbines to generate electricity required to power around 300,000 homes. It is planned to be commissioned in 2018.
