RWE npower has begun commercial operation of a new £3.5 million ($6.6 million) biomass facility to allow co-firing a its Didcot A power station.
The new storage and blending facility is contained on the site of the existing coal-fired power station and will allow an increase in possible biomass use from around 1% of the current fuel used to 10%.
