The areas include 3,000 hectares in Area 4 in Rapu-Rapu(Albay) region and Area 17, which consists of 7,000 hectares area located in Surigao del Sur Bislig region.
The two projects are expected to meet the coal demand in the country, as Philippines’ coal consumption reached 18 million tonnes in 2012.
Philippines has been importing around 12 million tonnes of coal from Indonesia.
