Indian renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group has won its first order from Atria Power for the development of a 50.4MW wind power project in Tuticorin in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Under the terms of the contract, Suzlon will install 12 units of S111-140m and 12 units of S120-140m wind turbine generators with a hybrid lattice tubular (HLT) tower, with rated capacity of 2.1MW each.
The project will be commissioned in two phases by the first half of FY2020. It will provide electricity to 43,000 households and curb 142,569 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
The order is part of the company’s Letter of Intent (LoI) orders of 484MW.
In addition to executing the project on turnkey basis, Suzlon will also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services.

The S111-140m and S120-140m wind turbine generators feature the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) technology that integrates wind turbines into the utility network to meet the grid requirements.
These turbines are designed to optimally harness wind resources at higher altitudes, making low-wind sites viable.
