NKT has secured a contract from Ørsted for the supply of 190km of 220kV high voltage AC XLPE offshore export cable system for the Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm in the UK.
The cable system will be delivered by NKT for Hornsea 2 will comprise three far-shore cables, constituting nearly 50% of the entire project.
The Hornsea 2 wind farm, with a capacity of 1.4GW, will supply clean electricity to over 1.3 million UK households once it is operational in 2022. It will be located 89km off the coast of Yorkshore, close to Hornsea 1 wind farm, where NKT has delivered the entire cable system.
