Wärtsilä has signed a contract with Eurocement Group for the supply of gas engines to support the Russian firm’s factory modernisation programme.
Wärtsilä will supply a total of 36 natural gas engines for installation in 11 cement factories in Russia. Eurocement Group makes up almost 40 per cent of the Russian cement market and is one of the largest cement producers in the world.
The firm will install Wärtsilä 34SG engines at its sites, with installations varying from two to five engines (19 MW to 48 MW) in size. The plants will produce electricity for the cement factory and work in parallel with the grid.
All projects are scheduled to be fast-track-delivered during 2015. The contract will boost Wärtsilä’s strategy to grow its business in the industrial sector.
