The Finnish firm will supply a 30 MW combined heat and power (CHP) plant to CGGC UN Power. It has hailed the contract as a “landmark” deal that marks the entry of a new technology to the market.
The Guangdong Huadian Panyu Wanbo CBD Distributed Energy Project power plant will comprise three Wärtsilä 34SG engines running on natural gas, and is scheduled to be fully operational during 2018.
It will be located in Guangzhou and supply electricity to the national grid as well as heating and cooling to commercial office buildings and shopping malls in the area. Wärtsilä’s scope covers the equipment supply.
According to Wärtsilä, CHP plants are gaining an increasingly large foothold in China due to the rising need for reliable heat and power supplies.
