Pemex Procurement International, a wholly owned unit of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), has awarded a $28m contract to energy services provider Wood Group to provide engineering services for field development work in the Gulf of Mexico waters.

Under the three-year contract, Wood Group will provide deepwater and complex shallow water concept and basic engineering as well as owner engineer services.

Wood Group Kenny and Wood Group Mustang will carry out work under the contract, including field development planning and engineering of topsides facilities; subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF), as well as floating systems.

Wood Group chief operating officer Robin Watson said: "Mexico’s energy reform is leading to significant development of the country’s oil and gas industry and Wood Group offers PEMEX unparalleled Gulf of Mexico expertise.

"Wood Group Mustang and Wood Group Kenny are the leaders in Gulf of Mexico facilities design and SURF, respectively.

"Their integrated solution will include best practices for offshore and complex facilities that will help to expand Mexico’s offshore capabilities."

Pemex Procurement International is launched to provide procurement services for Petróleos Mexicanos and its subsidiaries.

Wood Group provides engineering, production support, and maintenance management services to the oil and gas, and power generation industries through three businesses including Wood Group PSN, Wood Group Kenny and Wood Group Mustang.
