Germany-based renewable energy firm Wirsol has completed crystalline rooftop solar plant, which is the largest of its type in Europe.

The new 8.1MW solar power plant, which is spread over an area of about eleven hectares, has been installed on pfenning logistics’ distribution center in Heddesheim, southern Germany.

This project has approximately 33,000 modules that are angled in east-west orientation, the company said.

Commenting on the solar project, pfenning group owner and managing partner Karl-Martin Pfenning said the company will now be able to generate electricity, which will be enough to partially power its needs.

"With the photovoltaic installation, we can annually save up to 5,171 tons of CO2," added Pfenning.

Wirsol Solar, a photovoltaic company, develops solar energy projects for businesses, government entities, utility companies, and homeowners in Germany and internationally.

The company engages in planning, construction, financing, and implementing solar grid-connected solar energy systems on rooftops, on the ground, and over parking lots, as well as distributes quality-tested components.
