Located at Buckskin Mining Company’s outside Gillette, the plant will be integrated with the company’s patented Binderless Coal Briquetting (BCB) technology.
White Energy managing director and CEO Brian Flannery said the permit marks and important step in developing new industry in Powder River Basin.
"However, there are no plans to commence construction of a BCB plant until there is a clear market option for this upgraded coal," Flannery added.
"White Energy’s BCB technology enables these coals to be upgraded by reducing the moisture from 25-30% down to 8-10% with a significant increase in heat value."
Meanwhile, White Energy and Buckskin’s management will work closely to determine ways to market the upgraded coal in the future.
