The company will use the financing to build five 345kV substations and about 378 miles of 345kV transmission lines, which will bring wind energy from West Texas to the major metropolitan areas throughout the state.
WETT has selected Isolux IngenierÃa USA,as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the new facilities and power lines.
Construction activities will begin next month, and the facilities are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2013.
WETT was originally awarded a contract by the Public Utility Commission of Texas to build, operate and maintain high-voltage power lines in 12 West Texas counties, as part of the Texas Legislature’s competitive renewable energy zone project.
WETT is a joint venture between two electric transmission development companies – Brookfield Asset Management and Isolux Corsán Concesiones.
