Under the six-year contract, WesDyne will evaluate the KKL mechanized ultrasonic inspection system using phased array technique.
The company will annually inspect eight different nozzle types, comprising 56 nozzles with each having up to three welds. It will also inspect 127 welds during the contract-term.
Westinghouse, which has been offering inspection services at KKL for over a decade, will manage the work under the contract at its facility in Mannheim in collaboration with WesDyne’s team.
KKL mechanical engineering department manager Michael Kessler said: "We are pleased to continue cooperation with Westinghouse to provide Leibstadt with their proven combination of safety-focused inspection techniques and experience-driven duration times that will maximize our plant’s availability."
The contract includes an option for four additional years.
WesDyne provides remote and mechanized nondestructive examination products for inspection needs with a focus on the nuclear market, including problem analysis and solutions generation to development and manufacturing to field deployment of personnel and equipment.
