Westinghouse Electric and Kernkraftwerk Leibstadt have extended their contract for manufacturing and delivery of reload fuel to the nuclear power plant in Leibstadt, Switzerland.

Under the contract, Westinghouse will continue to serve the plant by providing two additional reload deliveries in 2016 and 2017.

The company has already won a contract (the existing) for five reload deliveries for the years between 2011 and 2015 to power the Leibstadt nuclear plant.

Executed by Westinghouse Electric Sweden, the contract will see Westinghouse manufacturing the fuel assemblies at its facility in Vasteras.

Westinghouse Northern Europe vice president and managing director Johan Hallen said the company believes the contract extension reflects Leibstadt’s high confidence in the quality and reliability of Westinghouse fuel.

"Westinghouse has been an important supplier of fuel to Leibstadt nuclear power station since 1990," added Hallen.
