Diamond Pipeline, a joint venture between Plains All American Pipeline and Valero, has submitted an order for more than $47m in coated 20-inch pipe to Welspun in Little Rock, Ark.

The Welspun order accounts for approximately two-thirds of the pipe needed to construct the 440-mile Diamond Pipeline, which will move crude oil from the Plains Terminal in Cushing, Okla., to Valero’s Memphis, Tenn. refinery. Access to domestically produced crude oil delivered by the Diamond Pipeline will enhance the long-term viability of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel production in the region, benefitting consumers in Arkansas and Tennessee.

“We’re pleased to build upon our established relationship with Welspun on this order for the Diamond Pipeline, bringing additional economic benefit to Arkansans,” said James Ferrell, Vice President of Supply Chain Management for Plains.

“On behalf of our more than 500 employees in the Little Rock area, we’re proud to contribute to bringing the benefits of this important piece of energy infrastructure to our community,” said Rusty Fisher, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for Welspun. “Through this prestigious pipeline order, Welspun Tubular continues to fulfill its commitment of supporting jobs for the state of Arkansas,” he said.

“This significant order to Welspun, in addition to the local jobs associated with the pipeline’s construction, further amplifies the beneficial economic impact of the Diamond Pipeline on our state,” said Randy Zook, President and CEO for the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce.
