The order comprises the 91MW capacity to be delivered for the first phase of the wind farm project being developed and operated by its owner Duke Energy.

Vestas said that it will supply and commission the 55 wind turbines and provide service and maintenance for three years. The turbines are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2008, and commissioning is expected to be completed at the end of 2008.

Jens Soby, president of Vestas America, said: We are extremely pleased with Duke Energy’s order, which will add to the existing projects in Texas for which Vestas has supplied wind turbines. Texas is currently the leading wind state in the USA in terms of installed megawatts, and clearly demonstrates how wind power brings not only clean and renewable energy, but also increased economic activity and local jobs to a state or a community.
