Under the contract, Vestas will deliver, install and commission 45 of its V117-3.3MW turbines for the project located in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas.
The deal also includes a 10-year Vestas Active Output Management (AOM 5000) service contract. The company plans to deliver the turbines in the first quarter of 2016.
US-based Oak Creek Energy Systems developed and will operate the Tres Mesas wind project, which will be built in two phases.
The power plant is expected to generate 520,000 Mwh of energy per year and reduce about 237,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the US Government’s Development Finance Institution and the North American Development Bank will provide loans to finance the project.
The energy generated from the project will be sold to Sigma Alimentos, part of Mexican firm Alfa, and Walmart de Mexico.
Vestas president for the Mediterranean Marco Graziano said: "With the completion of the Tres Mesas project, Mexico will have taken another step in promoting renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the country."
The Mexican government is planning to generate about 35% of its energy from clean technologies by 2024.
Vestas installed its initial wind power facility in Mexico in 1994. The company has to date deployed 406MW of turbines in the country.
