Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has received an order to supply 55 units of the V100-1.8MW turbine for a wind energy project in British Columbia, Canada.

The contract includes delivery and commissioning of the turbines along with a 10-year service and maintenance agreement.

The company’s production facilities in Colorado will manufacture the main components of the turbines for this order.

Delivery of the turbines is scheduled for mid-2012 and commissioning is expected in late 2012.

Vestas Americas president Martha Wyrsch said that the V100-1.8MW turbine is an ideal turbine for low- and medium-wind speeds and will provide clean energy for thousands of homes for many years.
