Verbund AG is adding a pumped storage plant to its Kaprun project, in a move that will almost double capacity to 985MW.
The new 480MW pumped storage plant, estimated by Verbund to cost US$481.1M, will begin construction in 2006 to be completed in 2011. The current capacity at Kaprun is 505MW.
