Sweden based electricity, heating, biogas and services provider Oskarshamn Energi has commissioned a new biomass-fired power plant in Oskarshamn.
Valmet was responsible for the delivery of a complete power plant, including patented BioGrate combustion technology, installation, training and commissioning.
The company has also delivered its Valmet DNA technology for automation and a flue gas condenser and a ventilation system.
Valmet pulp and energy business line president Bertel Karlstedt said: "This project has been a technical success and we have been able to combine the know-how of many different Valmet teams.
"This plant is an excellent representation of our energy production technologies as well as environmental and automation solutions, and will serve as an important reference facility also for future projects."
The combined heat and power plant (CHP) has a thermal output of 17.7MW of district heating, an electrical output of 3.8MW and additional 4MW thermal output to district heating network
The plant, which also features flue gas condenser and a ventilation system, is expected to meet over 70% of annual district heat demand in the Oskarshamn municipality, the company said.
Equally owned by Oskarshamn municipality and E.ON Sweden, Oskarshamn Energi is responsible for distribution of electricity in most parts of the Oskarshamn municipality and for district heating distribution in the urban area.
