Under the contract, Valinox Nucléaire will supply 5,300 nickel alloy tubes for each of the eight steam generators.

The tubes will be manufactured at Valinox’s Montbard plant in Burgundy and are scheduled to be completed in 2016 and 2017.

The two contracts are a part of EDF’s plan to gradually replace large components of its 1,300MW reactors.

Launched in 2011, the renovation program, will extend the life of the existing reactors.

Vallourec Power and Pipe Project Sector senior vice-president Nicolas de Coignac said: "These contracts, which consolidate our partnership with Areva, illustrate, once again, the know-how and excellence of the French nuclear industry."
