Supervisors in South Middleton, Pennsylvania, US voted unanimously yesterday to remove the decaying Wittlinger dam on Yellow Breeches creek.
The dam was branded a hazard by the state Department of Environmental Protection in 1999, due to damage it suffered in a 1993 flood.
A kayaker capsising in high water not far from the dam last week was the catalyst for the supervisors’ decision.
