The solar projects will be developed, over two years, with investment of CNY9bn ($1.45bn).

The partnership is expected to boost United PV’s business structure and enhance its capital base.

United PV executive director LU Zhenwei said: "This cooperation marks the injection of Chinese insurance funds into the solar industry, fulfilling the strategic plan of the State Council. We look forward to welcoming new opportunities ahead through various collaborations."

The cooperation is also a part of United PV’s effort to develop a cross-border platform for the new energy by collaborating with overseas financial institutions.

United PV said that the partnership marks a step ahead for its acquisition of business of solar power plants.

The company also aims to partner with Chinese and overseas sizable financial institutions in order to develop more investment and financing channels.

United PV owns 1.7GW of power plants in China.
