US-based United Pipeline Systems (UPS), a unit of Insituform has received an additional $10.5m contract for the Sino Iron Ore project in Western Australia.

Under the contract, UPS will supply and install its Tite Liner HDPE solution to protect over 36 miles of slurry and process water pipelines at the magnetite iron ore project.

UPS international general manager Randy Egner said the company will work towards extending the life of the pipelines at the Sino Iron Ore Mine project.

"Our crews have proven their expertise in installing in harsh, desert climates and will remain focused on completing this project as specified." Egner said.

Work on the project is expected to begin in August 2011.

The company earlier received a $10.9m contract in January last year; however work will only begin in May 2011, following a delay in appointment of a prime contractor.
