According to Business.Scotsman.com, only 1,229 out of about 4,000 large businesses and other commercial organizations that qualify for registration under the CRC energy efficiency scheme have registered for the scheme before the deadline.
A company which fails to register by 30 September will have to pay an initial fine of £5,000 ($7,702.97) plus a further £500 ($770.447) per day up to a maximum of £45,000 ($69,353.11) until it complies.
The Energy Agency makes a further listing of 15,000 lower-energy users that have to make an ‘information disclosure’ under the scheme.
The firms ignoring the scheme consume the highest amount of energy, especially for the top three sources of daily consumption which are air conditioning, lighting and power consumed by electronic equipment.
