Proposals to reduce transmission charges paid to the National Grid by renewable generators on the Scottish islands have been unveiled by the UK government in a bid to encourage the vast potential in the Scottish Islands.
Energy minister Malcolm Wicks has launched two consultations on connecting remote sources of renewable energy to the grid and those offshore, which will have a major impact on the development of the sector.
