Turkey has reached agreement with Syria on the long-planned issue of constructing a dam over the river Asi.
According to the agreement – reached during the recent visit of Turkey’s Prime Minister to Syria – both countries will meet costs for the dam, which will be built at the border.
The dam will produce energy for both sides and irrigate 20,000ha of agricultural area in Turkey and 10,000ha in Syria.
