The stake has been acquired from Yunnan Metallurgical Group, Kunming Yeyan New Material, and Kunming Engineering & Research Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy.

These three companies will collectively hold the remaining 10% stake in Yunnan Metallurgical New Energy, which is currently working on a 300MW solar power project in southern Yunnan province of China.

Construction of the project is anticipated to start in the third quarter of 2014.

Trina Solar chairman and chief executive officer Jifan Gao said: "We are delighted to partner with Yunnan Metallurgical Group and its two subsidiaries to develop solar power projects.

"We are committed to supporting the adoption of solar energy and environmental protection in the Yunnan region through our combined strengths.

"Thanks to our quality manufacturing capabilities and track record in project development coupled with our partners’ market position and access to project resources in the region, we look forward to working together to capitalize on new project opportunities to the benefit of all parties."

A recent research predicted that the solar capacity production level will cross 100GW in China by 2020.
