The project included removal of an aging fuel oil pipeline from the 1950s that was buried under approximately 25ft of sediment in Humboldt Bay.
PG&E stated: “We commend TRC, their subcontractor LVI Environmental Services, as well as M&M Diving, RGA Environmental and Stillwater Sciences, for a job well done. The project was completed safely and without releasing a single drop of oil into the land or aquatic environment.”

TRC conducted three remediation projects as well as the fuel oil pipeline removal project at HBGS. TRC was selected to lead the pipeline project based in part on the successful execution of those projects, and to utilize local contractors with safe performance records.
TRC provided permitting and licensing assistance, as well as oversight and construction management for the removal of the 3,451ft fuel oil pipeline. The work scope also included bay sediment sampling via barge, pipeline fluid removal, pipeline abatement and removal, and site restoration.
