Trans Energy has commenced the drilling of the Groves #1H well in Marshall County, West Virginia, which will be drilled and completed horizontally in the Marcellus shale.

The Groves #1H is the second of the company’s four planned horizontal Marcellus wells in Marshall County in the second half of 2010.

Meanwhile, the company has completed the drilling of the Stout #2H prior to the commencement of the drilling of the Groves #1H well.

The company expects to frac the Stout #2H sometime in the late October or early November.

The company said that moving to a development phase from an exploration phase is another significant step forward for Trans Energy to properly develop its acreage position in northern West Virginia.

Trans Energy is an oil and gas exploration and development company in the Appalachian Basin.
