Emerson has created new tuning tools for use with its Westinghouse distributed control systems (DCSs).
The Unit Calibration Advisor is compatible with both the Ovation information and control system, and the WPDF distributed control system. It enables plant engineers and operators to retune and adjust a control system for field conditions such as field drive element wear and tear.
Unit Calibration Advisor analyses performance trends to calibrate the relationship between existing curves and predicted replacement curves based on operating conditions. It can adaptively tune curves or advise plant engineers, technicians and operators of suggested replacement curves.
The OvationTune tool works to compensate for PID tuning discrepancies that can reduce efficiency but are often overlooked in large systems. The tool offers advanced process diagnostics, event logging and adaptive PID tuning for retuning without manual intervention or disturbances.
