ABB announced that it has installed two of the world’s largest Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR) in Israel. Each of the two units is rated at
22.5 MVA, considerably more than the previous maximum ratings., according to the manufactuerer.
The DVRs are installed at a silicon chip wafer manufacturing site and actively compensate for momentary voltage dips that could have seen millions of dollars in chip production lost. The systems respond to voltage drops within a millisecond and can neutralise dips of 35 per cent in three phase and for up to 500 milliseconds of duration.
