Applicants will need to have a valid Texas residential address in order to qualify for the rebate under this new program, which will offer a maximum of two rebates per household including any rebates given during the previous April 2010 program.
Rebate amounts will range from $40 to $1,000 and the consumers who purchase either the air-source heat pumps or the central air conditioners will be able to receive a $1,000 rebate.
Energy Star air-source heat pumps are claimed to be about 9% percent more efficient than standard new models and 20% more efficient than the older models, while the Energy star central air conditioners are about 14% more energy efficient than standard models.
The consumers can buy these appliances from an electronics distributor or an air conditioning company that sells Energy Star products, such as Reliant Air Conditioning that services the Dallas, Fort Worth, and Denton areas.
Texas Comptroller of public accounts, Susan Combs said that as Texas buy appliances that can help cut their energy bills, they can also save on the price of the appliances with these rebates.
