Terra-Gen Power, an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners, has announced that the company has closed about $631m financing for the development of Alta Wind VI & VIII wind projects of 150MW each at the Alta Wind Energy Center (AWEC) in California, US.

The finance secured from the US Department of Treasury, and ancillary credit facilities, will be used to repay the loan from ArcLight Capital Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners.

Terra-Gen will equip the projects with 100 V90-3.0 MW turbines manufactured by Vestas-American Wind Technology.

Blattner Energy will be responsible for the construction of the project, while Terra-Gen Power will manage, operate and control the projects.

Southern California Edison will buy the power generated from the plants with respect to a 1,550 MW power purchase agreement.

Construction of these projects will bring the total capacity of AWEC in Tehachapi to 1,020MW by the end of this year.
