Terna said that the EBITDA margin on sales of the operation will be around 85%.

“We are aiming for a double-digit return on the investment with an IRR (internal rate of return) of 11-12 percent,” the company’s Chief Executive Flavio Cattaneo said.

The capital gains from the sale of of the power plants would then be reinvested in the domestic power grid and in dispatching services, Cattaneo said.

Sungrid will generate revenues of around EUR45 to EUR55 million per anum, he said.

Cattaneo also said that already Terna has discussed the project with Italy’s energy regulator and with the Industry ministry.
