“Both dams will be built simultaneously and are expected to be ready by 2014,” Tenaga Nasional’s Vice President Human Resource Muhammad Razif Abdul Rahman said.
Rahman said that on completion, the dam in Hulu Terengganu will be the third in the state, after that of the Sultan Ismail Power Station in Paka and the Sultan Mahmud Power Station in Tasik Kenyir.
“The demand for power supply is not so high in Terengganu, probably just around 300 MW. We already have a power station in Paka, which has the capacity to generate 1,200 MW electricity, and another one in Tasik Kenyir with a capacity of 400 MW.
“We are connecting the two power stations to the national grid to ensure continuous supply of electricity nationwide,” Rahman said.
