Under the contract, Technip will supply technology license and process design package for the proposed Appalachian Shale Cracker Enterprise (ASCENT) petrochemical complex, which is being evaluated by Odebrecht and Braskem.
The cracker will produce ethylene using ethane from shale gas for use in polyethylene plants.
The initial project phase will be implemented by Technip’s operating centers in Texas and California, US as well as Rome and Italy.
Technip Stone & Webster Process Technology senior vice president Stan Knez said: "We are pleased to reinforce our long-term relationship with Odebrecht and Braskem by providing a leading technology and PDP for this world-scale cracker.

Separately, Technip, in a joint venture with Odebrecht and ICA Fluor, is providing engineering, procurement and construction services for the Etileno XXI petrochemical complex in Mexico.
Braskem-IDESA is constructing the Etileno XXI petrochemical complex, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2015.
