Tanzania and Uganda have agreed to jointly develop the 16MW Kikagati-Murongo hydropower project on the Kagera River on the border between the two countries.
Work on the project, which will feature two 8MW turbines, is expected to start in 2012. Once complete the project is expected to help alleviate chronic power shortages experienced by both African countries.
