Construction of the al-Taim Electric plant is expected to cost about SYP45bn ($948m) and is expected to meet the increasing power demand and support energy development and stability for 15 years.

The proposed plan also includes bringing 125 electricity transformers with a capacity of 125 MW into service.

The Ministry also intends to upgrade the old electricity networks in the Province and establish 20 electricity transformer stations in the near future.

The overhaul of the old electricity networks is expected to decrease voltage drop occurring in some parts of the Province.

Cost of the rehabilitation work is estimated around SYP 300 ($6.15m) to SYP1bn ($20.51m) for each station.
