Krystall is a high-volume solar-powered water treatment system that uses reverse-osmosis technology to treat up to 100,000 liters per day of brackish/contaminated water or 50,000 liters of seawater into pure drinking water and is housed within two standard 40ft containers.
This sales agreement that comes eight months after the launch of the product requires SwissINSO to work in conjunction with a local partner and distributor to install the water treatment unit, readying it for full operation by early April 2011.
SwissINSO vice president Paul Belay said that Krystall units are particularly well-suited to address the extreme and chronic clean-water shortages of countries like Algeria.
"We’re very pleased with the decision to choose our water treatment technology. This agreement also represents an important opportunity for the growth of our business in the North Africa region," Belay said.
