On 20 June, Fingrid received the proposal of Norwegian transmission system operator Statnett and Swedish transmission system operator Svenska Kraftnät concerning a balance management model.
The companies based their proposal on the need to develop the balancing power market and imbalance power model. The proposal will influence the development of real-time markets in the Nordic countries.
Fingrid is surprised that the model was not developed jointly. It is important to Fingrid that Nordic TSO co-operation continues to be founded on collaboration and decision-making between four TSOs of equal standing.
Fingrid also considers it essential that the principles concerning the regional balancing power markets and balance management are prepared openly and together with stakeholders. Fingrid will continue with its aim of enabling open, effective electricity markets based on fair principles in the best interest of the entire Baltic Sea region and all electricity market parties.
