Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon has secured work on wind projects with a combined capacity of 75.6MW at home from April to July 2016.

The turnkey deals came from several public sector undertakings (PSUs) and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the domestic food, textiles, chemical, real estate, entertainment and manufacturing industry segments.

Suzlon said some 80% of the customers have already purchased turbines from the firm.

The wind projects will be installed in te states of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. They are scheduled for completion by March 2017.

As per the orders, Suzlon will provide turnkey solutions ranging from the supply of equipment, installation, commissioning and life cycle asset management services under defined contractual periods.

The company secured 42MW of orders in the first quarter of this year and the remaining 33.60MW orders were received in July 2016.

Suzlon will be supplying the latest of its product offering including S111 90m tubular tower, S97 120m hybrid tower and S97 90m tubular tower. Each of the wind turbines has a rated capacity of 2.1 MW.

According to Suzlon, the new S9X and S11X series product portfolio has been designed to harness maximum wind resources and produce highest possible amount of energy and make return on investment quicker.

Suzlon claims that the turbines feature doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) technology which is designed to maximise yield and in unlocking the potential in low wind regions.

The wind turbine manufacturer also added that the S97 120m is among the tallest all-steel hybrid towers with 120 meters of height in the world and it is a combination of both lattice and tubular structures.

It claims that the wind turbine when installed in the state of Gujarat in 2014, achieved a plant load factor of 35% in the first 12 months of the operation.

Similarly, the S111 90m has a rotor diameter of 111.8 meters with a swept area of more than 9500 m2 and it claims to have the highest yield in its class.

Until July 2016, the S97 120m and S111 90m have been installed in wind projects of 329MW and 65MW respectively.

Suzlon Group CEO J.P.Chalasani said: “The order wins reiterate our role as the preferred partner of choice for renewable energy solutions in India.  It is encouraging to see the captivating change of preference towards clean and sustainable energy.

“We continue to leverage our technological expertise which enables a product suite suitable to varying wind regimes and develop high yield products that effectively bring down the cost of energy.”
