Wind turbine manufacturer, Suzlon Group has secured an order from Cennergi to deliver 138MWof wind turbines for the power project in South Africa.

Suzlon will provide 66 units of its S97-2.1MW turbines for the wind farm, under a full engineering, procurement and construction agreement.

Suzlon Group chairman Tulsi Tanti said South Africa is very committed to its target of installing 8,400 M of wind energy by 2030.

"We are very encouraged by the consistent work being done for the sector and look forward to making significant contribution towards this target." Tanti added.

Construction of the wind project is expected to start in 2013.

Cennergi is an equal joint venture between South Africa’s mining group Exxaro Resources and Khopoli Investments, a subsidiary of the Tata Power Company.
