The contract comes after Suntech was chosen to provide 34.5MW of solar panels and technical support for the project’s first phase in August 2010.

The solar power plant is owned by Bangchak Petroleum Public Co and integrated by Solartron Public Co.

With groundwork construction underway, the complete 44MW capacity solar power plant remains on schedule and will be grid-connected by late-2011, Suntech said.

Renewable energy produced from the facility will be purchased and distributed by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Provincial Electricity Authority under long-term power purchase agreements.
