Located on a 3,300m2 area, the plant is equipped with 44 MWp(2) production line and is expected to produce about 150,000 solar panels every year.

SunPower chief operating officer Marty Neese said, "We believe our new De Vernejoul manufacturing facility, located at the heart of major European solar markets, allows us to supply the world’s highest efficiency solar panels to our customers."

Total Electricity & New Energies vice president Arnaud Chaperon said SunPower is the linchpin of Total’s solar activities.

"We intend to build on the quality and performance of its products as well as on its technological innovation to further grow solar energy," Chaperon added.

The new facility will be used to integrate and assemble SunPower’s Maxeon solar cells into the solar panels which will be targeted for the rooftop markets.

Total is an integrated oil and gas company and its affiliate SunPower Corp. designs, manufactures and delivers solar panels and systems.
